The day is about celebrating the contribution of older people and 1 October coincides with the UN Day for Older Persons.

The society is promoting a 32-page guide on falls prevention that it produced with consumer magazine Saga.

The society’s new Get up and go video will be available on the CSP website.

Members are also being encouraged to deliver the ‘functional fitness MOT’ designed by Glasgow Caledonian University and the British Heart Foundation National Centre for Physical Activity and Health.

Older People’s Day events already planned include Nordic walking, Pilates classes and showing the Get up and go video.

On social media you can tweet and share photos and videos about your activities using the #physioworks and #olderpeoplesday hashtag.

Don't be deterred if you can't hold an event on 1 October. Activities are being held throughout the UK in September, so once you’ve received your pack and leaflets, pick a time that works for you.

The deadline to register is 9 September.
