Find out more about the 2026 CSP Annual Conference programme, theme, The Power of Prevention in Modern Physiotherapy Practice, speakers, session types and more.

I thought the conference was excellent. One of the best I've ever been too. Brilliantly organised. Excellent standard of talks and posters. Learned loads and met lots of great people.

Conference programme

With 10 concurrent sessions running throughout, you are sure to find plenty to suit your interests and experience.

Themes

The CSP Annual Conference is a two-day programme curated by clinicians, bringing together the very best in new scientific research, working practices updates and policy analysis on the theme of the power of prevention.

The conference is built around this year's streams:

Rehabilitation: recovery to resilience

The rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases and multiple long-term conditions presents a global challenge.

This stream explores rapid advances in exercise medicine and rehabilitation science; the innovations, new medications and technologies such as AI, wearables, robotics and augmented reality that are transforming care.

It investigates rehabilitation, recovery and enablement throughout life, including after acute illness, surgery or trauma, and cancer, cardiopulmonary, orthopaedic, paediatric or neuro- rehabilitation, that can improve outcomes and prevent secondary problems like falls and fractures.

It looks at the shift to preventative healthcare, and evidence about physiotherapy in the community, neighbourhood team or private practice that can intervene to enhance quality-of-life, prevent ill-health and hospital admissions.

Advancing women's health

On average, women spend 25% more time in poor health in comparison to men.

This stream considers physiotherapy as a life-course approach, and the actions that promote physical function, activity and exercise to enable healthier lives and participation in work, sports, education and usual activities for women and girls.

It asks how we research, use data and technologies to better understand and address sex- and gender-based differences in health. It examines physiotherapy during the perinatal period and the menopause, and for key conditions contributing to the women’s health gap such as back pain, depression, pelvic floor dysfunction, migraine, auto-immune disorders, breast cancer and osteoporosis.

Collaboration in action

Focus on the evidence-based approaches that activate patient knowledge, skills and confidence to improve outcomes, prevent ill-health and support self-management, including for populations that experience health inequalities.

Here we study person-centred physiotherapy for children and adults, evaluating the practice, technologies and tools that can support access to and delivery of high-quality physiotherapy.

Topics to discuss include co-creation, behaviour change, communication approaches as well as evidence about the service models, connections and partnerships that improve the experience and outcomes of physiotherapy.

Workforce transformation

Career pathways in physiotherapy are diverse and expanding. This theme investigates the practices that grow and sustain learning and development of the physiotherapy workforce, including support workers, pre-registered through to consultant-level physiotherapists.

Areas of interest include research, innovation, digital transformation, clinical academic, business and entrepreneurship roles and skills and working in different sectors.

In addition, we explore the actions and system-level changes that can address burnout, improve work-related well-being, strengthen inclusion, professional fulfilment and retention. As well as embed opportunities for physiotherapy leadership, high-quality apprenticeships, supervision, preceptorship and mentorship across settings.

Session types

Learning styles vary and so do session types at the CSP Annual Conference. The event will have a spotlight on national physiotherapy research progress reports and also include panel symposia, seminars, workshops, oral abstract and poster presentations, exhibition and demo sessions, special interest sessions and conversation cafes designed for networking.

Poster gallery

The poster gallery will feature hundreds of posters sharing real-world solutions, research, innovation and learning.

Delegates will access information on research, service developments and quality improvement in a bite-sized practical format. Delegates will also have access to the people behind the posters sharing their ideas that can be adapted and implemented locally.

The posters are also available electronically before, during and after the event.

Exhibition hall

A large exhibition hall will feature a range of organisations, suppliers and networks showcase services, tools and initiatives.

Delegates will take part in hands-on sessions in the demo area accessing new techniques, equipment and technologies in action. This is a chance to try out innovations, ask questions and gain practical insights directly from experts.

The exhibition will also feature the CSP Professional Networks area, CSP Networks area and the CSP stand, providing a key opportunity to exchange ideas and engage with the CSP.
