Resources to support your patients to lose weight

Obesity was already one of the most significant health crises facing the population prior to the pandemic. In addition, an evidence review of both UK and international studies conducted by Public Health England has identified that people who are overweight or living with obesity have a significantly increased risk of symptom severity, hospitalisation or death from coronavirus.

In response, the government has launched a new obesity strategy for England, although some measures are UK-wide. There are also new public-facing resources to support people to lose weight to protect their health.

In addition, it is a timely reminder that there are a number of existing training opportunities and resources for clinicians to ensure they can support their patients appropriately with this hugely important public health issue.
