Vacancy details

We have an exciting opportunity for a First Contact MSK Practitioner to join the St Austell Healthcare Primary Care Network, a network of one Practice of 31,000 patients.

We envisage the ideal candidate to be a highly motivated, highly skilled independent practitioner looking to make a real difference to people’s lives at their initial presentation with a musculoskeletal problem, improving the quality and timeliness of expert intervention to impact upon their condition.  We are hoping to recruit a more than one candidate to join our existing team, allowing the role to be combined with other roles that the candidates may wish to continue.

You will be joining our established MSK team in assessing and diagnosing patients to establish a suitable clinical pathway. You will be the first point of contact for patients with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions who need clinical assessment, diagnosis and management. Prescribing qualifications and experience of referral pathways preferred but not essential, as we can support you through education and training as part of ongoing professional development.

You will be joining an established team of professionals including physiotherapists, GPs and pharmacists with management/ secretarial support. This is very modern physiotherapy role that is suitable for ambitious physiotherapists with the motivation to extend their scope of practice, while living in the beautiful county of Cornwall.

At St Austell Healthcare we are embracing change, running with the opportunities it affords and creating our own exciting future. We work differently; we are innovative and provide a supportive and resilient environment to look after our 31,000 patients, which allows clinicians genuinely to thrive in general practice.

Our working methods have led to national recognition.  We have a large number of allied healthcare professionals working in traditional “GP” roles, which we fully support with training and education opportunities. We have a multidisciplinary non-medical prescribers group, consisting of nurse practitioners, clinical pharmacists, mental health professionals and physiotherapists, backed by our salaried doctors and GP partners. For those seeking portfolio careers and more flexible arrangements we are always ready to discuss tailored employment packages where these make sense both for us and for you.
