  • An opportunity has arisen within the Newham Health Team for Adults with Learning Disabilities to recruit a WTE Band 7, Clinical Lead Physiotherapist.

    We are looking for a candidate with experience in working with adults who have severe or profound and multiple learning disabilities. The role includes the management and supervision of a band 6 physiotherapist and band 4 physiotherapy assistant. The successful candidate will also be required to deputise for the Clinical Service Manager.

    The successful candidate will be part of The Community Health Team which provides specialist health services to adults with severe or profound and multiple learning disabilities, their families and carers. The multidisciplinary team consists of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Community Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Consultant Psychiatrist, Art Therapist, Management and Administrative staff.

    The role will include assessing and treating clients with complex health needs, formulating and implementing treatment programmes and liaising with all agencies involved. It will also include carrying out bespoke programmes in other settings including clients home, schools, leisure centres, a Rehabilitation Gym, Rebound Therapy (on the trampoline) and Aquatic Therapy (in the swimming pool). You will have monthly supervision with the Clinical Service Manager.

    The team is committed to continuous improvement of our service and you will be expected to be involved in Clinical Governance. There are opportunities for training and CPD, as well as skill sharing within the MDT.

    You will need excellent communication skills, be physically able to comply with manual handling guidelines and the implementation of exercise programmes (including in the swimming pool and on the trampoline). Candidates must be flexible and adaptable to new and challenging situations.
