CSP welcomes rehab framework for Wales

The CSP in Wales has welcomed the publication of the rehabilitation framework for continuity and recovery 2020 to 2021.

Wales’ health and care services are moving to a new phase of planning for continuity and recovery as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. This framework seeks to provide assistance to service planning for the anticipated increased demand for rehabilitation of population groups, including both adults and children, affected both directly and indirectly by COVID-19.

Commenting on the guidance, CSP Policy and Public Affairs Manager Calum Higgins said:

“It’s clear from this guidance that the Welsh Government are taking rehabilitation services seriously. The impact of the pandemic on the demand for rehab services will be huge, and will also include patients who haven’t had covid-19. This guidance clearly indicates that there will be a wide range of people needing access to services when the NHS restarts certain services.”

On the next steps, he said:

“We have maintained our close working relationship with the Welsh Government through the pandemic and would like to thank the rehabilitation task force for allowing us to comment on this framework before publication.

We look forward to keeping up the dialogue, using members experiences to inform Government decision making, and advocating for extra resources for rehabilitation services”.
