Vacancy details

Contract:         Fixed-Term for up to 18-24 months with possibility of extension

Department:     Physiotherapy

 Band:               Based on Band 6

 Hours:             37.5 hours per week   Monday – Friday/ Part-Time hours will be considered. 

The physiotherapy team forms an integral part of the specialist palliative care team that provides high quality care to patients when disease is no longer responsive to curative treatment.  In particular, physiotherapists provide leadership in rehabilitation, ensuring that patients are given the opportunity to optimise their function to maximise quality of life.

The post holder will be a member of the specialist multidisciplinary palliative care team and will contribute to the effective provision of rehabilitation and therapy support.  He/she will undertake physiotherapy assessment and treatment of palliative care patients as an autonomous practitioner.  He/she will be required to support the physiotherapy provision across the Northern Ireland Hospice.  The post holder will therefore work across the Adult Inpatient Unit and Hub (outpatient) services.  He/she is required to be flexible to respond to out of hour’s requests within reason as per clinical policy.  The post holder will contribute to projects and teaching initiatives as a source of physiotherapy expertise and advice, and will actively and positively engage in their own development with support of their line manager and other relevant persons.
