Sue Ryder has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Therapy Services to lead our dedicated team. As a Head of Therapy Services you will provide robust and effective leadership to a specialised multi-disciplinary therapy team working within the rehabilitation service at Sue Ryder Lancashire. The post will support the Senior Management Team in the delivery of services, quality improvement and clinical governance and strategy for neurological care and rehabilitation.

Key responsibilities include:

Oversee individual client journey from referral to discharge to ensure individual programmes are planned and delivered safely and effectively.
To provide operational oversight and professional leadership to the therapy team via effective supervision, appraisal and training.
Take a lead on recruitment and retention activity pertaining to the AHP workforce
Monitor all aspects of quality and performance activity and complete a range of compliance related reports as appropriate
Act as a source of clinical expertise and advice within the charity in neuro-rehabilitation and AHP workforce
Actively engage with the Integrated Stroke and Neuro Network (ISNDN), Neurological Alliance and other local/national networks
Build and maintain effective relationships with NHS, local authority and third sector organisations working in neurological services
Engage with Sue Ryder central services for workforce, HR, education and quality to ensure robust reporting and compliance
Act as lead source of clinical expertise within the team.
Chair multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical governance meetings and Quality Improvement group
To complete a range of written quality and performance related reports as appropriate for external and internal monitoring purposes and ensure a robust audit cycle is completed

Experience and skills required:

•BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy/ BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
•Registered with Health and Care Professionals Council
•Relevant post registration training and experience in a neurological rehabilitation speciality and relevant leadership experience and training in a health/social care setting
•Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
•Current registration with Professional Body (RCOT/CSP)
•Member of a Professional Specialist Interest Group
•Experience of working in a specialised rehabilitation setting (in-patient or community)
•Demonstrable experience of evidence based practice, research and outcome measures
•Highly specialist knowledge and application of therapy assessments and interventions using complex level clinical reasoning
•Experience of managing a team of staff including setting objectives, appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary issues
