A collective approach to reducing stress at work


CSP members in an NHS trust in the North West of England experienced an increase in sickness absence related to workplace stress.

Wanting to find out more, our workplace team of stewards and safety reps conducted a stress survey of members. Once results were collected, members gathered to review the data and come up with suggestions for reducing stress levels.

Our reps then took the results – and members’ suggestions for positive change – to management. This saw a number of changes to the working environment agreed, along with plans for recruitment to cover maternity and long-term sickness absence, and revised weekend and on-call services.
