MSc Physiotherapy (pre-registration)

Key features

Why study with us?

The programme gives you the knowledge and skills you need to practise as a physiotherapist and prepares you for registration with the Health Professions Council. Academic study will be at masters level, and this accelerated programme helps you achieve the qualification in two years, rather than the traditional three years.

The course is underpinned by research, with a strong focus on evidence-based practice and interprofessional working. As a graduate you will use your existing academic skills to study patient management in the core areas of physiotherapy practice, cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal and neurology. A blended-learning approach develops your problem-solving and clinical-reasoning skills to a high level and encourages critique of current practice.

The course includes five practice placements which cover the recommended 1,000 hours of supervised clinical practice. Placements will be arranged in a variety of health and social care settings across north west England, southern Scotland and the Isle of Man.

What can this course lead to?

The award of MSc Physiotherapy gives eligibility to register with the Health Professions Council, allowing you to work in the National Health Service, in the private and voluntary sectors, or overseas. This is an exciting time - physiotherapy practice is expanding into extended and non-traditional roles, giving graduates the chance to lead the latest developments.
