Vacancy details

We currently have two exciting opportunities across our mental health in-patient services based at Highbury Hospital.

Band 6 In-Patient Physiotherapist - Mental Health Services for Older People 22.5 hours per week – 0.6 WTE Based at Highbury Hospital, Bulwell, Nottingham

Are you an experienced, practising physiotherapist passionate about working with Older People and seeking a new challenge?

If so, we are recruiting for a Specialist Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) in-patient services, based at Highbury Hospital, Bulwell.

Cherry Ward is a specialised mental health ward for patients over 65 years, which provides comprehensive nursing care and psychological interventions for a wide range of mental illnesses, from depression to acute episodes of psychosis. Silverbirch Ward is a specialist ward for older people delivering a wide range of specialist interventions to patients with a dementia related illness.

In this role, you will provide specialist assessment and interventions in a holistic and patient-centred way as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team, leading on issues such as falls interventions and other physical healthcare promotion and monitoring, supporting people to optimise both their physical and mental well-being.

You will be:

  • motivated, resourceful and, with a positive attitude, committed to providing excellent interventions to older adults with mental health issues and diagnoses;
  • able to work flexibly and holistically in your practice in a patient-centred environment;
  • ideally have previous experience working in an MDT with older people or with patients with mental health issues.

In return, you will:

  • work as a autonomous specialist in your profession within the multi-disciplinary team;
  • receive regular support and clinical supervision, provided by a designated Physiotherapy Clinical Specialist;
  • be a member of a well-established physiotherapy forum, and have access to a comprehensive in-service training programme to support your professional development aspirations.

Band 6 In-Patient Physiotherapist – Adult Mental Health Services (AMH)

13 hours per week – 0.35 WTE

Based at Highbury Hospital, Bulwell, Nottingham

Are you passionate about working with adults with mental health issues?

Are you able to work flexibly and holistically in a caring and patient-centred environment?

We are recruiting for a specialist Band 6 Physiotherapist within the Adult Mental Health Directorate who has these values and would like to join our team as an In-Patient Physiotherapist based at Highbury Hospital.

Adult Mental Health Services provides a range of services for people 18 – 65 years across Nottinghamshire. You will work across the 4 acute wards and the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at Highbury Hospital

Your role as a Physiotherapist will be to provide specialist assessment and interventions in a holistic and patient-centred way as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team. This includes Occupational Therapists, Dietician, OT assistants, Peer Support Worker and a Gym Instructor. You will provide physiotherapy for the four in patient wards and the psychiatric intensive care unit. This will include physiotherapy assessments and interventions for service users and there may also be occasional home visits.

This is a unique and essential role within a mental health service and you will be expected to lead with issues such as falls interventions and other physical healthcare promotion and monitoring to support people to optimise both their physical and mental well-being.

You will need to be motivated, resourceful and committed to providing excellent interventions to people with mental health issues. Previous experience working in an MDT with patients with mental health issues would be an advantage but it is essential to have a positive attitude towards working with adults with mental health diagnoses.

These roles are separate but could be combined should a successful applicant wish to do so.

You would also have the opportunity to join our bank team should you wish to work extra hours. This may require working across sites.
