Job - Senior Rotational Acute Physiotherapist (Inpatients)

Location - The Wellington Hospital, London

Contract Type - Permanent, part time at 37.5 hours per week (on-call and weekend work is required)

Salary Range -Competitive dependent upon skills and experience. This position is equivalent to a NHS band 6.

Job Description

The Wellington Hospital are looking for a Senior Physiotherapist to cover their inpatients department. Rotations are broadly cardiothoracics (including ITU), orthopaedics, and medical/surgical (including ITU)

The post holder will be responsible for providing treatment for patients with a variety of acute presentations. This service will be provided within the context of a multidisciplinary acute therapy team. The post holder may be asked to provide Physiotherapy service to patients with acute conditions in other areas of the Wellington Hospital, depending on changing levels of need. This post holder will be required to participate in the On-call and weekend rotas.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To take on a full clinical workload and provide high quality treatment to patients with Acute based disorders on wards and in the intensive care unit.

  • To work as an effective member of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams and to actively promote the Inpatient Physiotherapy programme.

  • To undertake other duties at the request of the Head of Acute Therapies.

  • To provide comprehensive and ongoing assessment for each patient and to plan and implement treatment using a problem orientated goal planning system

  • To maintain accurate, up to date and concise treatment records detailing individual patients’ treatment plans and progress using the Physiotherapy Service

    documentation system and adhere to the guidelines and standards recommended by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

  • To be responsible, together with the multidisciplinary team, for the discharge report, arrangements, liaison with external agencies and communication of pertinent information to the appropriate people concerned on discharge or transfer of a patient.

Skills & Experience

  • Current registered member of Health Professions Council (HPC)

  • BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent

  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

  • Experience with working with adults with a range of acute disorders

  • Working within an intensive care setting (desirable)
