Vacancy details

The Priory Highbank Centre specialises in complex neuro-disability, including care of tracheostomy and mechanical ventilated patients. You would be part of our dedicated interdisciplinary team who offer evidence based patient centred care and therapy to help patients maximise their physical, emotional and social potential.

Essential Clinical Criteria:

  • Physiotherapy Degree (Bsc/Msc)
  • HCPC Registered 
  • Full member of CSP 
  • Minimum of 3-4 post years post graduate experience, with evidence of CPD (including a neurological setting).
  • Experience of subjective and objective neurological assessments and advanced clinically reasoned individualized treatments for patients with complex presentations physically and with communication and cognition deficits.
  • Experienced use of relevant outcome measures and the evaluation of treatments alongside current evidence based practice.
  • Evidence of working collaboratively with a wider clinical team and knowledge of other disciplines and their role.
  • Evidence of good time management of own caseload and that of others (where necessary), including: organisation, prioritisation, delegation skills.

Desirable Clinical Criteria: 

  • Evidence of neuro-rehabilitation specific training e.g. Introduction to Bobath or Basic Bobath. 
  • Experience & competency within others areas of Physiotherapy, especially Respiratory including ventilators and tracheostomy management.
  • Some awareness and understanding of PDOC.
  • Experience working at band 6, or a more senior level..
  • Experience working with Botox.
  • Demonstrate an ability to plan, co-ordinate and work alongside external professionals e.g. wheelchair services
  • Experience with the development of other staff members including rehabilitation, healthcare assistants and students, with active participation in formal and informal supervisions and an in-service training  program.
  • Evidence of pro-active reflective practice and maintenance of mandatory competencies.
  • Active participation in service development, evaluation and monitoring of service outcomes.
  • Demonstration of ability to risk assess, manage and report or respond to incidents, following policies and procedures correctly and abiding by health and safety guidelines. 
  • Evidence of participation in audit and awareness of other aspects of clinical governance.
  • Knowledge of current legal frameworks and legislation including: mental capacity, CHC, safeguarding and DOLS.
  • Good I.T skills.

To expand of knowledge of specialist equipment and posture & positioning management methods, including specialist seating and wheelchairs, specialist sleep systems.

The role holder should have excellent communication skills, flexible thinking and a dynamic approach to rehabilitation. Experience of care and neurological rehabilitation is desirable but not essential. A clean driving license is essential as driving the Company Minibus will be an integral part of your role.

The role requires workings across the different units at The Priory Highbank Centre and will involve evening, weekend working and Bank Holidays.
