Reporting to the Physiotherapy Manager, the successful Senior Inpatient Orthopaedic Physiotherapist will deliver face-to-face management of orthopaedic patients, including:

Total Knee Replacement, Total Hip Replacement, Knee Arthroscopies, Osteotomy surgery, Shoulder Surgery (Rotator Cuff Repair, Stabilisation, Arthrolysis), Spinal Surgery, Foot and Ankle Surgery, Hand procedures.

Senior Inpatient Orthopaedic Physiotherapist

The role will require you to manage, educate and advise patients, carers and other relevant healthcare professionals in specific physiotherapeutic post-operative management to facilitate safe and effective discharge, and in line with consultant protocols and hospital / Trust pathways.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work autonomously, utilising your analytical and clinical reasoning skills to progress the patient, facilitate their recovery, and guide the patient regarding future prospects such as work, sport, function, etc.
  • Liaising with orthopaedic consultants as appropriate to best meet the assessed needs of the patient.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessment and management of your caseload and formulate effective, clinical treatment plans in line with the hospital's enhanced recovery pathways and consultant protocol.
  • Occasional requirement to assist in the provision of outpatient physiotherapy services to meet the needs of the service (e.g. Annual Leave cover/sickness).
  • Participation in the weekend rota cover (inpatient/ward only).
  • To be professional, legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care.
  • To ensure a high standard of clinical care to all patients under your management To fit and teach patients the use of specific walking aids, braces and boots required post-operatively.

 

Senior Inpatient Orthopaedic Physiotherapist

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience.
  • Registered with the HCPC.

Experience

  • Experience in in-patient physiotherapy (ward working) treating a range of Orthopaedic patients.
  • Procedures experience working in private practice is desirable, but not essential.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams in independently managing caseloads.
