Vacancy details

This is an exciting time to join us as we work with other colleagues across the health board to deliver the Clinical Futures Strategy. The strategy sets out how we are moving towards care closer to home. Paediatric Inpatient services will be centralised at The Grange Hospital, Cwmbran in 2021.

The Clinical Lead for Children's & Adults with Learning Disabilities within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board will deliver innovation and develop strategic change across Gwent. The successful applicant will work alongside the Operational Manager for Children's and ALD Physiotherapy service, Senior Physiotherapy Manager and Head of Physiotherapy Service.

The introduction of recent health, social care and education legislation will require dramatic strategic change in how health services are delivered. The promotion of clinically and cost effective services that are equitable will be a required element of this role.

The successful applicant will be committed to exceptional clinical practice which ensures children and families are at the very centre of clinical interactions.

The Clinical Lead will need to have excellent relationships within wider stakeholders for the service and develop key partnership working in not only secondary but also primary care.

There will be a requirement to work throughout Gwent and be flexible to the needs of the service. A strong values base around patient focused outcomes and ‘what matters most’ rather than input focused delivery will be required.

You will be responsible for the clinical and professional leadership of registered and non-registered staff and contribute to the strategic development of physiotherapy services. The focus of this role will be to delivering a high quality service, bringing strong evidence based practice and to contribute to long term service sustainability.

The candidate will have a strong research focus and will be part of a national specialist interest group leading on high standards of clinical practice. The Clinical Lead will be responsible for the overall education, training and supervision models within the Paediatric and ALD service and the person will therefore require a high degree of clinical specialist skills but also people skills with the ability to coach and develop staff. This will be built on a foundation of appropriate experience and post graduate qualifications.

Clinical supervision and service pathway design will form a considerable portion of this role and you will contribute to clinical governance and maintain exceptional professional standards. This role will have both a clinical and managerial component. The Clinical Lead will be required to also engage and contribute to the overall performance of the service and will be a key part of the leadership team for both Paediatrics and ALD.

You may be someone who has a particular clinical or education focus within the scope of Paediatrics or ALD, but you also may have a broader transferable clinical background and leadership skills. Your predominant clinical base will be at Serennu Children's Centre, Newport but you will support the whole service throughout Gwent.
