About the roles

Southern DHB is excited to present a range of physiotherapy opportunities. Due to the dynamic and fluid nature of our work many of our staff are exploring educational and career advancement and we have vacancies in the following areas:

  • Outpatient Physiotherapists (Dunedin and Southland)

- Musculoskeletal outpatients including pain therapy, musculoskeletal, cardio respiratory, plastics, pelvic health and lymphedema services.

- Hand Therapy working with a wide range of patients referred from orthopaedics, plastics (burns and scar management) and rheumatology services, as well as GP and community referrals and first presentation ACC injuries.

  • Inpatient Physiotherapists (Dunedin and Southland)

- Neurosciences, including Neurology, Neurosurgery (including Traumatic Brain Injury), inpatient ENT and inpatient orthopaedic services

- Inpatient Southland, comprising of a medical and surgical ward with occasional cover of the children's unit and critical care.

  • Community Physiotherapists (Dunedin)

- Older person's rehabilitation with medical, orthopaedic and neurological conditions.

About you

The ideal candidate would have a minimum of three years' in a relevant setting. We are looking for team-players with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who are driven and proactive in developing and learning and shows proficiency in managing a busy and varied caseload.

You will be a clinician who can work autonomously while engaging with our well-established teams and participate in regular peer review and collaboration. You will also be involved in teaching and supporting rotational staff and students.

Our team run simulation training sessions to enhance education for our staff and students, and we work closely with the University of Otago's School of Physiotherapy supporting student education throughout clinical placements.
