Vacancy details

Our Physiotherapy Service is designed to provide, develop and deliver specialist physiotherapy to people with a cancer/palliative care diagnosis who have complex needs and includes people with long term conditions.

The service is for patients at the end of their cancer/illness journey from diagnosis to end stage disease, offering preventative, restorative, supportive and palliative rehabilitation intervention.  This may include those living beyond their cancer diagnosis left coping with the lasting effects of treatment. 

In addition, support for carers and families is a key element of this service, including attending the established therapeutic and support groups and developing new disease and symptom specific therapeutic and lifestyle management groups.

The Specialist Physiotherapy Service (SPS) contributes to the development of a comprehensive range of palliative and end of life services for South West Essex. Based at St. Luke’s the Post holder will also be required to work across SW Essex and at a range of satellite venues providing equity of service between the hospice, community and Basildon University Trust Hospital (BTUH).  In conjunction with the Senior Specialist Physiotherapist the post holder will also contribute to the day to day management operational responsibilities of the Service and staff.

The Post holder will be qualified as a Physiotherapist and registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapist (CSP) and Healthcare Professionals Council (HCPC) with experience in a clinical setting. Palliative and end of life experience is desirable with evidence of study/training related to the speciality.

 A valid clean driver’s licence and use of own vehicle are essential. This position is subject to DBS Disclosure
