Job description

With the help of our award-winning physiotherapy team students at National Star follow personalised programmes to help them maintain their physical health so they can live as independently as possible and prepare for life after college.

We are looking to recruit a highly specialist (senior A) physiotherapist to join our friendly team to continue this vital work.  This is a full time term time only contract working 44 hours a week, 39 weeks a year.

Our specialist college for more than 100 residential and day students with complex disabilities aged 16 – 25 years old, has a national reputation for delivering therapeutic programmes that meet the needs of learners with both acute and chronic presentation.

Led by an award-winning physiotherapist with a passion for treating people with acquired brain injuries and neuro-disabilities, the 36-strong physiotherapy team are all motivated by the progress made by students as they follow a range of specialist programmes tailored to meet their needs.

Ideally you will have developed specific post-qualification expertise in respiratory, neurology, rehabilitation and/or paediatrics. As one of our most experienced physiotherapists it goes without saying that you will be capable of assessing, planning and evaluating physiotherapy programmes to ensure students’ ongoing health and wellbeing, using your creativity and problem-solving skills to best effect.

Multi-disciplinary team working comes as standard at National Star so, as well as your clinical expertise, we expect you to be a highly organised, first-class communicator who can inspire junior members of the team and other colleagues. As a Senior Physiotherapist (Band A) we’d expect you to have a least four year’s post-qualification experience in a relevant field. You will act as a mentor, providing clinical supervision to less experienced physiotherapists. On occasions, you may be expected to deputise for the lead therapist.

Our facilities are second to none and include an aquatic therapy pool, indoor and outdoor accessible fitness areas and modern physiotherapy suite.

Located just off the M5, within driving distance of major conurbations including Bristol, Birmingham and Swindon, this role could provide you with the progression you need to take your career to the next level. With full-time and term-time only roles available, working for National Star has the potential to allow you to maintain your work/life balance while pursuing a successful career.

COVID-19 considerations:
You will be required to be double vaccinated against COVID-19 and will be expected to wear appropriate PPE at work

How to apply

Please note that all applicants will be expected to undertake a DBS Disclosure, and undergo the necessary employer checks. The level of disclosure to be applied for will be dependent on your job role and will be discussed with you during the recruitment process but is usually an enhanced level. Where appropriate, the adult and child barred lists will be checked and we will not employ anyone who appears on either of those registers.

We prefer people to submit an online application as this helps support the charity in saving money.  Alternatively please send your cv to recruitment@nationalstar.org or call our recruitment department 01242 527631 for further information or an application form.
