This vacancy is suitable for either experienced Band 6's or Band 5's wishing to pursue a development programme.
Various locations in Somerset available including: Glastonbury, Yeovil, Cotford St Luke Taunton, South Petherton Hospital, Bridgwater. Please note – if you have applied for one vacancy, you do not need to re-apply as your preferred location will be discussed at interview stage.
Permanent Contract
Full-Time - Between 8 am and 8 pm, 7 days a week however some flexibility may be available. If you’re looking for part-time work please note this in your supporting statement when applying.

This vacancy offers the possibility to be able to work in a rotational way between discharge to assess & rapid response to provide you with strong experience in both.
Are you a Physiotherapist who has a passion for patients staying at home, working in an unplanned way and avoiding Hospital Admission where possible?
We are looking to recruit experienced Physiotherapists looking for a new challenge and would like to join our expanding Rapid Response Team and Intermediate Care Service in a role that will provide short term rehabilitation interventions.
The therapists will work alongside Band 4 Senior Rehab Assistants to support the daily work of the rapid response team. As a therapist within the team you will be working alongside the clinical supervisors to pro-actively establish/identify patients on the caseload who require early/urgent therapy intervention to remain independent within their own home environment and prevent unnecessary hospital admission.
Rapid Response is a county wide team working as part of the new ‘Somerset Intermediate Care Service’, working alongside the 4 Neighbourhood’s within Somerset. Therapists will be based from either West Mendip/Bridgwater/Dene Barton or South Petherton Community Hospitals, working within a neighbourhood but due to capacity, and staffing issues such as sickness, leave and vacancies a cross country cover will be expected.
What is the main aim of the service?
- Prevent unnecessary hospital admission
- Keep service user to their optimal functional level in their own home
- Reduce the need for ongoing care and potentially reduce referral on to Discharge to assess service buy using the enablement approach.
- Provide support to enable quick turnaround of patients from Hospital to prevent longer hospital stay than is needed
There will be an expectation to provide training regarding enablement/rehabilitation approach and support Band 4 and band 3’s in the service to complete and support Supervision as required.
