Job - Lead Clinical Hand Therapy Specialist

Location - The Wellington Hospital, London

Contract Type - Permanent, full time hours 37.5hrs

Salary Range- Competitive and will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Job Description

  • The post holder will play an active role in staff training and the provision of treatment for outpatients with upper limb disorders.

  • The post holder will work closely with Head of Outpatient Services to develop services, core competencies and quality initiatives based on evidence based practice.

  • This service will be provided within the context of a multidisciplinary team. The post holder will take a lead role in the clinical provision, administration, organisation, liaison, marketing and strategic development of the London Hand and Wrist Unit (LHWU) across the HCA sites.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Play an active role in providing clinical excellence and quality activities related to assessment and treatment of patients in the Hand Therapy service at the London Hand and Wrist Unit, ensuring that quality, and activity targets are met.

  • Enable Hand Therapists to deliver high quality treatment to patients in line with the strategic direction advised by HCA, each of the four hospitals and Head of Outpatient Services including implementing quality initiatives and quality assurance methods.

  • To maintain a clinical case load and provide high quality treatment to patients with upper limb conditions.

  • To lead the clinical team in group and individual development and provide training, mentoring and clinical support where necessary.

  • Support the Head of Outpatient Services by providing leadership to the team, overseeing rosters and workforce planning and facilitating budget management.

Skills & Experience

  • Professional qualification in Physiotherapy (Chartered) or Occupational Therapy

  • HCPC Registration

  • Suitable experience in the field of Hand Therapy (Extensive experience preferred but all excellent candidates will be considered, especially those with leadership experience)

  • Evidence of high level of knowledge and skills in managing upper limb conditions

  • Experience of working within inpatient and outpatient settings
