Sue Ryder has a exciting opportunity for a Head of Rehabilitation and Therapy to lead our dedicated team. As Head of Therapies you will be accountable for the delivery and good governance of a multi-disciplinary therapy service by assessing, implementing (by self or junior staff) and evaluating programmes of personalised rehabilitation and care as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

Your role requires you to demonstrate a high level of clinical, technical and research skills through breadth and depth of knowledge in Rehabilitation Therapies. You will also provide strong effective leadership and management of the rehabilitation therapies team including recruitment, appraisal and performance.

Scope of the job:
•To assess individual service user needs and develop an appropriate rehabilitation programme to meet those needs.
•Be responsible for the unit’s complex caseload (relevant to role) to provide highly specialist rehabilitation treatment programmes to meet individual needs and outcomes.
•To ensure practice complies with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and relevant professional standards and ethics, including Sue Ryder Standards of Care.
•To lead, motivate and manage the therapy team.
•Implement evidence based practice, ensuring effective service provision and positive outcomes.
•Developing team knowledge and expanding clinical/rehabilitation skills and effectiveness.
•To ensure appropriate provision and maintenance of equipment within available resources.
•To ensure all staff within the unit are managed and supported in line with Sue Ryder people management policies.
• To share knowledge and expertise with other staff through formal and informal teaching within the rehabilitation therapy team and across the wider neurological care centre.

Experience & qualifications required:
•BSc degree level qualification in either Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy
•Management degree or equivalent experience
•Registered with Health and Care Professionals Council
•Relevant post registration training in a neurological rehabilitation speciality
•Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
•Current registration with Professional Body (CSP / COT)
•Member of a Professional Specialist Interest Group
•Experience of working in a rehabilitation setting
•Demonstrable experience of evidence based practice and outcome measures
•Highly specialist knowledge and application of therapy assessments and interventions using complex level clinical reasoning
•Experience of managing a team of staff including setting objectives, appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary issues
