Vacancy details

We are pleased to announce an opportunity has arisen for a Intermediate Physiotherapist to join our Integrated Wheelchair Service (assessment, engineering and approved repairer staff all working in one service).  You would be working from our service centre based in Portsmouth and conduct assessments in clinic, people’s homes, day centres or schools within the area. You will provide a high quality, service user focused assessment and prescription of manual and powered wheelchairs to maximise function and independence by modifying standard equipment and prescribing appropriate pressure relief.

You will manage your own caseload of clients who have permanent wheelchair mobility needs and postural management requirements and will require knowledge of a range of medical conditions and physical disabilities. You will work within professional standards and clinical guidelines, promote best practice and undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. Building and maintaining key relationships with referring services, facilitating appropriate referrals and prescriptions to the service is key to this role.

You will be supported in gaining skills in advanced clinical reasoning and problem solving, complex assessment, intervention and prescription of wheelchairs, seating and pressure relieving equipment.  Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal empathetically with service users, relatives and carers are paramount in this position, and you will receive professional guidance from the Clinical and Service Leads.
