Starting salary:  £42,793 (dependent upon experience)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time position as a Clinical Academic Lecturer (Education and Research) in Physiotherapy (Cardiorespiratory) jointly hosted by Keele University and UHNM. The postholder will develop a CVR research portfolio within the School of Allied Health Professions (SAHP), as well as contribute to cutting edge evidence-based clinical practice within UHNM, one of the largest teaching NHS Trust in the Midlands. SAHP offers high quality undergraduate and postgraduate education, a growing research portfolio that is part of a wider Faculty research community. Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation and Exercise Science and Radiography (Diagnostic Imaging) are established and growing educational programmes within the School. 

The University Hospital of North Midlands is split over two sites – Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital, and is a major trauma centre and hosts a regional NIV service.  There are an extensive range of clinical specialties including Cardiac, Respiratory Medicine, Thoracic Surgery, Critical Care (50 beds) and Neurology. The clinical work of the appointee will be based at Royal Stoke and County Hospital working alongside the Medical Division Therapy clinical and management teams. The role will involve promoting a research culture, embedding evidence based practice and delivering clinical education.

You will play a key part in the development of CVR-related research initiatives aligned with both UHNM and the School strategic direction. You will pursue research/scholarly activities in line with the School focus and one of the growing Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences research themes: “Prevention, Performance and Rehabilitation”.  Your research is likely to fit within this overarching theme (or one of the other Faculty themes), although this is not essential.

The School is situated at the heart of Keele University’s beautiful and vibrant campus. The University and Hospitals have excellent transport links and are situated within an hour of the cities of Manchester and Birmingham.  The School has Athena SWAN bronze status.  UHNM Royal Stoke site is located in Newcastle Under Lyme, less than 10 mins drive from the University campus.
