Extra money for Welsh NHS gives 'room to breathe', says CSP

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy has welcomed the announcement of an injection of funds for the NHS by the Welsh government.

An extra £240m was unveiled in the budget announcement yesterday.

Philippa Ford, CSP Public Affairs and Policy Manager for Wales, said:

‘The extra funds pledged by the Welsh government will provide a much-needed respite from cuts for local government and give the health and care systems some room to breathe as they look to work ever closer together.

‘It’s important that the additional money earmarked for training more healthcare professionals includes funding for physiotherapy training places, however, as the profession has a key role to play in delivering the patient-centred, integrated care that will be needed in the future.’
