National webinars on the physio support workforce

The CSP hosted six free events aimed at associate members, chartered members and non-member support workers working in physiotherapy throughout 2021.

The webinars covered a range of topics, and provided learning and development on workplace and professional issues. 

Each event was hosted by a CSP Country Board or CSP Regional Network. Slide decks, where available, and recordings of each webinar are linked on this page free for everyone to watch.

Support worker scope of practice – what does this look like and what are the differences at each level?

Purpose of the workshop

For associate members /physio support workers to be able to:

  • distinguish the differences in scope of practice at different levels of support worker roles
  • appraise the suitability of tasks, activities and responsibilities that might be undertaken in different roles 
  • appraise current working practices to clarify role boundaries.

For chartered members to be able to:

  • distinguish the differences in scope of practice at different levels of support worker roles
  • appraise the suitability of tasks, activities and responsibilities that might be undertaken in different roles

Delegation master class – understanding accountability, responsibility and supervision in practice

Date: Thursday 22 April 2021, 7:30pm

Purpose of workshop

For associate members /physio support workers to be able to:

  • outline the legal, regulatory and professional frameworks that underpin delegation in physiotherapy practice
  • outline good supervision and support practices that ensure delegation is safe and appropriate
  • review the appropriateness of delegation in own workplace.

For chartered members to be able to:

  • outline the legal, regulatory and professional frameworks that underpin delegation in physiotherapy practice
  • outline good supervision and support practices that ensure delegation is safe and appropriate
  • appraise governance practices and determine any improvements required
  • review delegation practices to ensure support staff are working at the height of their scope of practice.

Working with students – the support workforce’s role and value in supporting the next generation

Date: Thursday 17 June 2021, 7:30pm

Purpose of workshop

For associate members /physio support workers to be able to:

  • outline what makes a great student placement
  • define what and how support staff can contribute to student placements within their scope of practice
  • determine what actions to take to fully engage in student placement support.

For chartered members to be able to:

  • outline what makes a great student placement
  • define what and how support staff can contribute to student placements within the scope of various roles
  • determine what actions to take to fully engage support workers in student placement support.

New horizons – what’s possible for the support workforce beyond Band 4, the art of the possible

Purpose of workshop

For associate members /physio support workers to be able to:

  • outline how and why it is possible as a support worker to work in a role above Band 4
  • describe circumstances in which a support worker role above Band 4 might be beneficial to a service
  • outline the knowledge, skills, attributes and experiences required to work as a support worker above Band 4.

For chartered members to be able to:

  • outline how and why it is possible as a support worker to work in a role above Band 4
  • describe circumstances in which a support worker role above Band 4 might be beneficial to a service
  • appraise where higher level support roles could benefit your service.
