London members promote physio to large audiences in East London

by Catherine Chappell

Working alongside the East London Health and Care Partnership five CSP members volunteered to take part in the Mayor’s Newham Show on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th July with one objective in mind – to promote their profession!

Using Workout@Work! campaign materials Efren Lagat, Paula Coelho, Inge Vermeulen, Philomena Annan and Angelina Ansah set to work engaging with members of the public providing advice on a range of issues and promoting physio.

50,000 people flocked to the event with members talking to hundreds of people about how physio is key in keeping people fit for work as well as tackling queries on a wide array of issues ranging from asthma and back care to falls prevention and women’s health.

The event also featured an area staff by personnel from the local Day Hospital Falls Clinic including physiotherapists Ngalita Mbelo and Krzysztof Czajkowski who advised the public on how to reduce their risk of falling.

As well as promoting physio the members ensured that they carried out some strategic networking making contact with GPs, the Council’s Public Health team, CCG personnel, local politicians and many other public health officers who were sharing the same event space. Plenty of business cards were distributed with no-one leaving in any doubt about how clinically and cost effective physiotherapy is.

The CSP’s Campaigns and Regional Engagement team is on hand to help members promote the profession at opportunities just like this. If you want to get active and influencing healthcare decision makers to choose physio and promoting your profession contact the team at cre@csp.org.uk to find out more.
