Researchers invited to make global impact

Physiotherapy researchers from around the globe are invited to submit proposals for the focused symposia of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT) Congress 2015, to be held in Singapore.

The international scientific committee of the WCPT is calling for groups of three international researchers from at least three WCPT regions to be led by a convenor who is a recognised expert in his or her field.

The one-and-a-half-hour sessions are a series of evidence-based presentations that provide a forum where cutting-edge topics can be explored and debated with an international audience.

The call for focused symposia is open to any topic that fits at least one of the five programme tracks:  global health; professional issues; professional practice; education; research methodology.

Four speakers from the UK took part in the 2011 Congress.

This ‘should encourage other members to go for this great opportunity’, said CSP international development professional adviser Birgit Mueller-Winkler.

The deadline for submissions is 30 September 2013. ‘This may sound far off but applicants will have to identify colleagues from at least three different continents (or WPCT regions) as co-presenters in order to be considered,’ Ms Mueller-Winkler added.

The outcome will be announced on 15 December.
