Conference called on the CSP to develop a curriculum framework that would operate as a 'continuum of education' running from assistant practitioner through to consultant level.
Proposing the motion, Mel Stewart (pictured), of the National Group of Stewards in Higher Education, questioned how it was possible to identify the postgraduate career pathway of physios. Speakers pointed out that the Society already has a curriculum framework for programmes leading to eligibility to register with the Health Professions Council and membership of the CSP. But, they said: 'In light of the relatively recent developments in the NHS in terms of clinical career development, with the creation of extended scope practitioner and consultant posts, it seems appropriate that the CSP should add to these and develop a post-qualifying education framework.'
