Have you got a physiotherapy project that would be enhanced by an overseas experience?
Then check out the fellowships on offer this year from the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust. The WCMT travelling fellowship scheme is open to anyone who has a project that will benefit both them as an individual and their wider community or field of interest. The project should involve overseas travel of between four and 12 weeks between 1 April 2011 and February 2012. New application categories are chosen each year and the current categories relevant to physiotherapy include ‘medical, health and social services’, ‘citizen and civil society’ and ‘exploration, adventure and sport’. Other categories that might be relevant are ‘education and training’ and the ‘open’ category. Liz Carrington, CSP international development adviser and a former WCMT fellow, said: ‘The travel fellowships provide fantastic opportunities to gain knowledge from around the world, of direct relevance to UK physiotherapy practice. Becoming a Churchill fellow is a great privilege, so there is a responsibility to ensure that gains in knowledge and skills are shared.’ Applications for 2011 close on 5 October.
