Musculoskeletal conditions should be approached from a bio-psychosocial framework; the pathology is managed in parallel with the psychological and social factors that may influence patient prognosis and outcome. Care must be patient centred; informing patients of the evidence base and helping them make informed decisions. Management for pain related to the rotator cuff has included diagnostic terms such as sub-acromial impingement, bursitis, tendinopathy and degenerative partial and full thickness tears of the rotator cuff. Physiotherapy is often the mainstay of initial management. This Master class will work through the diagnosis, evidence, management plan, outcomes, patient goals and education for rotator cuff related shoulder pain (RCRSP).
