Who is this course suitable for?

This course is aimed at Healthcare Professionals that wish to increase their knowledge, practical skills and confidence surrounding the holistic care of adult lower limb amputee patients.  This may include people working on acute wards or in the Community (inpatient or outpatient) setting.

The Amputee Rehabilitation Centre (based at Royal Derby Hospital) provides the specialist outpatient prosthetic input to outpatients based in Southern Derbyshire and the surrounding area. All of the MDT have a wealth of amputee experience and have undertaken post graduate training in the specialist area of Amputee Rehab.  As a team we are passionate about the provision of quality, holistic and lifelong rehabilitation for lower limb amputees and look forward to building other health care practitioners confidence and skills when working with this rewarding patient group.

Delegates are updated with regard to:

  • Safe transfer and mobility techniques used by Clinicians with lower limb amputees
  • Knowledge of nationally endorsed rehabilitation and therapy guidelines which should influence service planning and raise awareness of what should be included within holistic amputee rehab programmes.
  • Awareness of prosthetic pathways and factors influencing successful prosthetic use.

Fee: £90 (including refreshments)      CPD: 8 hours

Limited funded places may be available for AHPs & Nurses working for the NHS within the East Midlands.
