Who we are

Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club are proud to compete in the Premier League and play at home in our spectacular 30,000+ seater American Express Community Stadium. Premier League football is the most watched sports league worldwide, with an annual audience of over 1 billion people, in which we are thrilled for our men’s first team to professionally compete.  We are equally excited and proud of our women’s first team who successfully compete in The FA Women’s Super League, the top tier of women’s football in England.

The job

We are offering the exciting opportunity to join our category one status academy and a medical department striving for excellence and optimal service provision. The successful candidate will assist in the provision of the U23 physiotherapy services to include injury prevention, rehabilitation, athletic development and match day care.

What does the day to day look like?

You will support in the management, co-ordination and supervision of the U23 players alongside the Head Academy Physiotherapist and assist in the day-to-day running of the medical department, working as a mentor to our junior staff. This is an important role and you will need to ensure the management of injuries effectively meets its commitments to the players, coaches and senior management through clinical audit and accurate documentation.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and will need to effectively liaise with the academy coaching staff and support staff on a daily basis to keep them informed of players’ availability for matches and training. This role is required to provide physiotherapy match day cover for academy games therefore the successful candidate must be willing to travel to away fixtures.

What can you expect?

We are synonymous with quality, both on and off the pitch; the work will be challenging, the environment will be fast paced, and we’ll have high expectations of you.  But we will give you everything you need to succeed. You’ll work hard, but the great thing about football is that you’ll see the results.

What we need

We are looking for someone with experience in the provision of physiotherapy within an elite sporting environment and someone who can demonstrate their ability to develop, implement and evaluate physiotherapy programmes for elite young professional footballers. To be considered for our senior academy physiotherapist position, you will need to hold the following qualifications:

·         BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree

·         A minimum of 4 years’ membership with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

·         Registered with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

·         A valid and accepted enhanced FA DBS CRC (or be willing to undertake this check if successful)

·         Valid FA Advanced Resuscitation and Emergency Aid Certificate (AREA) or FA Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football Certificate (ATMMIF).

Ideally you will have or will be working towards an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy, Manual Therapy, Sports & Exercise Medicine or equivalent and hold a valid FA Safeguarding Certificate however these aren’t pre-requisite.
