Chief Executive Officer

The Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) is the national, professional organisation, representing over 3,000 Chartered Physiotherapists in Ireland. It is respected and recognised both within and outside the profession, as the voice of physiotherapy in Ireland. The purpose of the organisation is to lead the profession, enhance the profession’s capacity to lead in healthcare delivery, respond to members’ needs and ensure the scope, impact and potential of physiotherapy are maximised, thereby positively contributing to the health and well-being of the citizens of Ireland

Due to the imminent retirement of the current CEO, the organisation wishes to appoint a new CEO.

The role:

The person in this leadership role will ensure the organisation continues to develop as an influential and impactful health professional organisation. This will require strong sectoral and political advocacy as well as extensive membership engagement. The CEO will be expected to provide the necessary leadership and direction to ensure that the overall purpose and objectives of strategic and service plans are understood by staff and volunteer members within areas of responsibility to secure their active participation in the delivery of high quality, efficient and cost-effective services and supports to members.

In addition, the CEO will be responsible for the operational management of the organisation. The CEO will line manage a team who lead the functions of communications, finance, professional development, professional practice, private practice support and member support. The ISCP has an operating budget of €1.1 m in 2022.

The ideal candidate will have:

•    A strong understanding of physiotherapy as a registered health care profession 

•    Proven management skills including the capacity for human resource management 

•    Excellent communication skills including writing and editing skills

•    Experience in advocacy at multiple levels e.g., sectoral, and political

•    Understanding of the nature of a membership organisation and a commitment to providing a high standard of service to members

•    Experience of working with volunteers or familiar with the concept of altruism 

•    Financial Management Experience. A third level qualification with a module in financial management is desirable. 

•    At least 6 years senior management experience

•    IT skills, including project management skills

•    An understanding of the legislative framework and the current developments in the Irish Healthcare system.
