The cross-party All-Party Parliamentary Group on allied health professions (AHPs) is inviting evidence to inform recommendations to the government and the NHS.
The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on AHPs has launched a call for evidence to support a new inquiry into the role of AHPs in neighbourhood health services.
The CSP acts as secretariat for the APPG, supporting its administration and coordination on behalf of all AHP professions.
Through coordinated advocacy and evidence-based engagement, the group helps ensure the voice of AHPs is heard where decisions about health and care are made.
Inquiry into neighbourhood health
Neighbourhood health is becoming central to how care is planned and delivered in England. There is a growing focus on prevention, proactive care, joined-up support and helping people stay well at home.
AHPs are essential to delivering this vision. Representing more than 370,000 staff across a wide range of professions and settings, they play a key role in prevention, early intervention, treatment and rehabilitation.
However, evidence suggests AHPs are not consistently visible, commissioned or fully utilised within neighbourhood models.
This inquiry will explore how AHPs contribute to neighbourhood health and how policy, commissioning, workforce and service design can better support these models of care.
Brynnen Ririe, CSP public affairs lead for England, said:
The APPG is a key way for allied health professionals to work together and speak with a stronger, collective voice to parliamentarians.
The evidence gathered through this inquiry will help shape recommendations on how AHPs can support neighbourhood health, improve outcomes and reduce health inequalities
Sonia Kumar, MP for Dudley, chair of the APPG and a registered physiotherapist, said:
This inquiry is an opportunity to showcase the expertise, value and opportunities that Allied Health Professionals can provide, to ensure that NHS neighbourhood health is effective.
Contribute evidence
The APPG is inviting individuals and organisations to submit evidence to inform the inquiry.
Evidence gathered will be used to develop recommendations for government, integrated care boards, NHS providers, local partners and other stakeholders.
