Friday 1 October 2021 is Older People's Day – a day recognised by the United Nations as an opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the extraordinary contributions and achievements of older people.
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought into sharp focus how crucial keeping active is to prevent deconditioning among our elderly population.
We know how vital a role physiotherapists can play in the lives of older people and this year, we're sharing an animation featuring an introduction by fitness star Diana Moran, aka the Green Goddess.
How to get involved
We’d love it if you could share the above animation in your workplace, with patients or on social media. Remember, you can promote your Older People's Day activities on via Twitter using the hashtag #OlderPeoplesDay and mentioning @theCSP in your tweets.
Why not @mention your local MP to enlist their support for the day and recognise the difference physiotherapy makes to the lives of older people, helping them lead an active life and prevent deconditioning?
You can find your local MP (UK), MSP (Scotland), MS (Wales) or MLA (Northern Ireland) via the links below.
- MPs who are on Twitter will have their Twitter handle listed on their profile on the Find your MP website
- Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs)
- Members of the Senedd in Wales
- Members of the Northern Ireland Assembly
Use the day to promote physiotherapy locally
