CSP members rally for rehab staff and space

CSP members across the UK will be marking Rehabilitation Awareness Week (14–20 September 2026) to highlight what rehabilitation makes possible – and to make the case for the rehab services, staff and spaces that patients need.

CSP members in Central Lancashire, NHS Forth Valley, North East London NHS Trust and the Sirona Health and Care region are all hosting activities for Rehabilitation Awareness Week, while the University of Lancashire will be showcasing Right to Rehab videos and inviting physiotherapy students to take Rehab Champion badges and Right to Rehab pens on placement.

At Torbay Hospital, the MSK team will be staffing a stand in the main hospital restaurant to engage staff and patients and raise awareness of the breadth of rehabilitation and its life-changing impact throughout the week.

CSP exhibition in parliament

The CSP will be mounting a Right to Rehab exhibition in the Scottish Parliament’s inner lobby during the week, and will tell MSPs about the urgent need to invest in rehabilitation.

The Society will also invite MSPs to become Rehab Champions and advocate for rehabilitation in Parliament.

This coincides with daily practice sharing talks convened by NHS Scotland and the Scottish government starting with an overview from the CSP's Sara Hazzard and the government's policy lead Richard Brewster (14 Sep, noon-1pm, book here).

Practice talks

The series continues with talks on memory rehabilitation at home by Alzheimer Scotland (15 Sep, noon–12.30pm, book here), orthoptics in rehabilitation teams by NHS Lothian (15 Sep, 1.30–2pm) – book here), frailty and rural rehabilitation by East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership and NHS Highland (16 Sep, 9.30–10.30am, book here), technology in rehabilitation by the University of Strathclyde (16 Sep, noon–12.30pm, book here), how to evidence impact by the CSP's Chris Tuckett with NHS Wales (16 Sep, 1.30–2.30pm, book here), and linking rehabilitation and community exercise by Dundee Stroke Exercise Programme and Public Health Scotland (17 Sep, 9.30–10.30am, book here).
