This October, we're asking CSP members to help grow our community and strengthen our collective voice by encouraging colleagues to join.
The more members we have, the greater our ability to negotiate, campaign and influence change locally and nationally.
Every new member adds to the collective strength of physiotherapists, support workers and students across the UK.
From 1–31 October, members who refer a colleague to the CSP will receive double rewards through the Refer and Reward scheme.
Throughout October, we'll also be sharing stories from members about what being part of the CSP has meant to them.
Why I'm a CSP member
Giridhar Ravi – chartered member
'Being a member of the CSP has supported my career by giving me a strong sense of professional identity and access to guidance I can trust. It has helped me stay up to date with best practice and build confidence in my clinical decisions, especially when working with people with complex palliative care needs.
'I have also valued the sense of connection to a wider community of physiotherapists, which reassures me that I am not working in isolation and encourages me to keep growing.'
Robert Packham – chartered member
'From the very day that I began clinical practice until today, I have always been a member of the CSP. As you develop through the profession, you can lean on the shoulders of lots of other people who've been there. If you try to do it on your own, you're in the wilderness a bit.
'Throughout a life of clinical practice and senior leadership in the NHS, I have had opportunities to shape practice, provide postgraduate education and influence policy. Through all of this, it was essential to have the support of the CSP.'
Pip Ford – retired chartered member
'Being a member of the CSP has always given me a sense of belonging to a trade union and professional body that I know is there for me as a resource.
'Throughout my career, as a physiotherapist and as a member of CSP staff, I have tapped into a wide range of services. I am immensely grateful to all the staff who have supported me throughout my career and who are still doing so now that I have retired but remain a CSP member.'
Anonymous – chartered member
'I have been a CSP member since I moved to the UK in 1992. I have never seriously considered not being a member. For me, belonging to my professional body has always felt important and I have felt proud to say that I am a CSP member.
'I had never needed support from a CSP rep – until recently, when I was told that my service was ending and I could lose over half of my contracted hours.
'The support and guidance I have received has been invaluable. I never imagined it could be so stressful, but it was reassuring to know that the CSP was there for me. We don't know what lies around the corner for any of us.'
