African and Caribbean Physiotherapy Network

The African and Caribbean Physiotherapy Network (ACPT) is a professional community for UK registered physiotherapists, support workers and students from an African or Caribbean heritage.

The African and Caribbean Physiotherapy Network becomes a CSP Affiliated Organisation

Affiliated Organisation status marks a formal association with CSP for independent physiotherapy networks and groups that share the same strategic priorities and wish for closer collaboration.

Established in 2019, the network provides mentorship, skills development, advocacy and support for its membership of aspiring and professional African and Caribbean physiotherapists, as they develop through their career. The network also runs workshops and training for other organisations around equality, diversity and inclusion issues.

CSP Council approved the affiliation in December 2022, with the support of the CSP's own Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic network.

ACPT co-founder, Esther Asibey, said:

"It’s a great privilege to be recognised and affiliated with the CSP as a network that celebrates and supports all African and Caribbean physiotherapists in the UK. We hope this mutual partnership will continue to raise awareness and highlight the importance of our existence, role and visibility as a pivotal part of Physiotherapy history in the UK."

Rob Yeldham, CSP director of strategy, policy and engagement, said:

"We are delighted that ACPT have chosen to become part of the CSP family of networks. ACPT are doing great work and there are important opportunities for us to work together to benefit our shared members. As the professional community for physiotherapy the CSP is keen to work with physios, physio support workers and physio students however and wherever they chose to come together."
