Flexible working

Any employee who has worked for their employer for 26 weeks can make a formal request for flexible working, although the employer is not obliged to accept it.


NHS employers have an obligation to facilitate flexible working requests, especially for women returning from maternity leave.

  • Information paper on part-time workers’ rights – this document explains what the law on part-timers’ rights means in practice for CSP members. It advises on how to make sure part-time physiotherapists don’t lose out on issues such as bank holidays, training and study leave, overtime, and pensions.
