TUPE: The Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations in Northern Ireland

The Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations – commonly abbreviated to TUPE - are a piece of legislation whose purpose is to offer some protection to workers when their employer changes through a transfer of the business to a new company.

This briefing attempts to summarise the main points of the TUPE regulations as they stand in Northern Ireland.

If you, as a CSP member, are faced with a transfer to a new company and have had to ask “What happens to my contract if my employer changes?”, then this briefing is for you.
