Centre of Excellence for Health Education

You will be taught in one of the largest Allied Health Professional departments in the country, using specialist facilities, allowing you to develop your skills of multidisciplinary team working within the University setting.

Course Design

You will study key areas of physiotherapy right from the beginning of the course, undertaking neurology, musculoskeletal and cardiovascular respiratory modules in your first year. You will be taught using a problem solving approach with the integration of online learning. You will build on these key areas in your second and third years to become an autonomous practitioner.

Level 2 and Level 3 fitness instructor awards are embedded within the course in your first and second year meaning you will excel in exercise prescription.

We have an innovative inter-professional education programme where you will learn together with other disciplines to develop key concepts of professional practise.

You will have involvement with service users who are integral to both clinical teaching sessions and course development.

You will be taught research skills and evidenced based practice and will undertake a clinically relevant, evidence based review during your third year.

In your third year you have the opportunity to arrange an overseas visit to enhance your employability.

Placements

You will undertake an observational visit to a clinical setting in January / February of your first semester to help prepare you for your four week placement at the end of your first year.

You will undertake a six week and an eight week placement in your second year and two, eight week placements in your third year. These longer placements allow you to really consolidate your learning in a variety of settings. 

 A wide range of placements are available within outpatients, in-patient and community areas, across the Yorkshire, Humber and East Midlands regions.
