SPECIALIST LEARNING DISABILITIES PHYSIOTHERAPIST

REF NO: FW771/09/18AP

SALARY: £32,974 - £43,471

Band 7 – HOURS: 37.5 (MONDAY-FRIDAY)

Are you looking for a new challenge and would you like a bit of variety in your caseload? The specialist service for adults with Learning Disabilities in Fife is looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to join our team.

You will be based at Lynebank Hospital, Dunfermline providing some input to our small in-patient service, although the majority of the workload will be in community settings across Fife. The clients on your caseload will all have a Learning Disability and may include those with multiple disabilities, complex communication difficulties and behaviours that challenge. A broad range of clinical experience is essential including Respiratory, Neurology, Orthopaedics and musculoskeletal. We also have an innovative Postural Management pathway integrated across Health and Social care, and this role will give you the opportunity to work at the centre of this project. This is a challenging but rewarding role and no two days are the same. Experience working with people with Learning Disabilities is not vital, but a desire to work with this client group and a knowledge and understanding of their needs is important.

As a band 7 there is an expectation that you will also have leadership skills, which will enable you to triage and allocate referrals in the team and provide supervision and mentorship to other Physiotherapists. You will also support the Operational Lead Physiotherapist in the development of the service. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, have a high level of organisational skills and be able to demonstrate good clinical reasoning. You will be able to work independently using your initiative, but you will also be a motivated team player and leader. The ability to travel throughout Fife during the working day is essential to this post.

With its vibrant fishing villages, magnificent beaches and peaceful countryside, Fife is a great place to develop your career with the NHS. Steeped in history with many local restaurants, shops and opportunities for sporting activities, Fife has something to offer everyone. Its excellent transport links ensure easy access to Edinburgh, Dundee and Scotland’s other major towns and cities.

For informal enquiries please contact Amanda Leech, Interim Head of Physiotherapy, Fife Wide Division on 01383 565384 or on amandaleech@nhs.net.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
