Vacancy details

Fixed term maternity cover contract for Scoliosis Specialist Physiotherapist, with the possibility of permanent employment thereafter. Initially 2 days (including Friday)/ 10 hours per week, commencing in September.

Or full time and permanent for candidates who are experienced or have an interest in wheelchair services in addition to scoliosis management.

Blatchford is a world leading rehabilitation provider with clinical expertise in prosthetics, orthotics, special seating and wheelchairs. Blatchford Clinic provides private prosthetic and orthotic services to the independent sector. The scoliosis service offers proven and effective non-surgical scoliosis treatment including bracing and physiotherapy using the Gensingen Brace and Schroth Best Practice physiotherapy method.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced neuro or musculoskeletal physiotherapist to join our multi-disciplinary clinical team in Sheffield specialising in scoliosis management using Schroth Best Practice method. The role is as part of a multi-disciplinary team who provide an exceptional clinical service to paediatric and adult patients and it really is an excellent opportunity for you to develop and enhance your career in this highly specialist field.

The physiotherapist is an integral part of the service we provide and focuses purely on using the Schroth Best Practice method in the management of scoliosis. You will use your skills to provide your patients with the most appropriate and effective conservative treatment in the management of scoliosis.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Undertaking initial face to face patient assessments and regularly reviewing patients progress
  • Designing rehabilitation and home exercise programs in the management of scoliosis
  • Maintaining clinical note keeping and tracking patient’s progress

Previous experience of treating scoliosis is advantageous, although not essential. Schroth Best Practice training is a requirement, however if you don’t have this qualification yet, we will support and fund this as part of your initial training. Applicants must be degree qualified in Physiotherapy and be HCPC registered.

We are ideally looking for an experienced, proactive neuro or musculoskeletal physiotherapist who would like to learn and develop within this specialist field. The successful candidate will be organised and proactive, with the ability to apply their theoretical, evidence-based knowledge in a practical and exercise focussed way. You will be able to work independently but also able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and you will look to use your knowledge and experience to further improve and develop our growing service. You will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable working with both adult and paediatric patients.

Initially the role is on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave, however the private practice is growing rapidly and therefore there may be the opportunity for permanent employment thereafter. We are ideally looking for 10 hours per week, spread over 2 days to include Fridays. However if you are experienced or interested in working as a physiotherapist as part of our wheelchair services with the NHS as well as in scoliosis management with our private patients, there may be a permanent opportunity to work full time, spread over both clinical services.
