Vacancy details

The Department of Sports Development and Recreation at the University of Bath manages and organises a range of activities under the University’s sports brand - Team Bath. The Department aspires to create a world leading multi-sport environment delivering to elite athletes, staff and students and the local and regional community.

Team Bath delivers one of the finest netball programmes in the country ranging from beginners through club and student activity to our National Premier League team.

Team Bath is one of the 10 teams that make up the Vitality Netball Superleague, the elite performance competition for national and international netball athletes. The league is semi-professional regularly covered by Sky TV and growing in commercial potential. We are embarking on a significant change in the delivery of our Superleague team and our netball programme as we develop the performance pathway across the south west on behalf of England Netball.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Chartered Physiotherapist, be a member of CSP and be registered with the HCPC, and ideally with experience as a sports physiotherapist, in some capacity, preferably working with development/performance athletes. Holding a current Sports Trauma Management/pitch side qualification and working towards the ACPSEM pathway will also be an advantage.

Delivery of physiotherapy for the Team Bath Netball programme will see you working with academy aged athletes through to semi-professional athletes and international players at regular clinics as well as supporting the Superleague squad at all home and away fixtures.

In conjunction with colleagues within the performance team, you will work collaboratively to establish an effective approach to athlete preparation and injury management, as well as the treatment and return to play processes.

Delivery of the programme will include evening and weekend work, as well as the occasional overnight stays, and working hours will vary throughout the season to accommodate for critical periods (0.4 fte).

You should

* have a professional appearance and approach;

* be an excellent team worker;

* have the flexibility to cover the requirements of the role;

* be a good communicator and have motivation and enthusiasm for new ideas to develop excellence.

You should also have an interest in Netball and development of the University Netball programme.

Based in the inspiring £35m Sports Training Village, the Department offers a wide range of high-quality sports activities, programmes, events, services and facilities catering for all ages and abilities. This is an opportunity to become part of a professional and progressive organisation at the leading edge of sport, health and fitness. We are looking to appoint individuals who reflect our values of inspiration, respect, integrity, excellence, flexibility and self-improvement and teamwork.

The appointment will be made subject to an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) clearance being obtained.
