Vacancy details

Have you ever wanted to work in Devon and take advantage of superb leisure activities, great countryside, friendly communities, and excellent transport networks?

Due to the development of community services within our area we have a new vacancy for a full time Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our busy and friendly Community Rehabilitation Team in Okehampton, Mid Devon. The base will be at Okehampton Community Hospital and the post holder will be expected to work from our other team sites at Moretonhampstead and Crediton as service needs require.

The post requires excellent communication skills and the ability to establish good working relationships with Health and Social Care Team members, GPs and the voluntary sector. The post will involve rehabilitation of clients within their own homes and there will be a requirement to take part in the duty rota for Urgent Community Response, which is our service to facilitate hospital discharge and admission avoidance.

The work is varied and there will be opportunities to develop skills in managing complex caseloads including clients with complex / long term conditions, falls, stroke, neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis as well as clients with general mobility, orthopaedic and trauma problems.  With the current focus being on supporting patients to self-manage their health and wellbeing, you will have the opportunity to help develop pathways of care for patients within our local community.

The area is very beautiful and rural so you will need to be able to travel to meet the requirements of the post.

Support will be given via supervision and in-service training and you will have the opportunity to support junior physiotherapists, students and new staff within the team.

Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours) currently Monday to Friday with the possibility of weekend rota being introduced in the future
