HEE roadmap deadline removed

Health Education England (HEE) is reviewing the deadline for completing the roadmap to first contact practitioner (FCP) and advanced practice in primary care.

The CSP is seeking final confirmation from HEE about revised recommended timelines but the April 2022 deadline will be removed.

It is likely to be replaced by guidelines allowing for an element of local agreement between members and employers.

Abi Henderson, head of FCP implementation at the CSP, said: ‘The CSP is committed to supporting our members through the roadmap and we have been working in close collaboration with HEE to find solutions to the operational issues we have been hearing.

Acute pressures

‘We believe the removal of the 22 April deadline will ease the acute pressures facing members who are working hard to support primary care in the current Covid context.  This will ensure the roadmap’s long term sustainability and success.

‘We would encourage members to continue working towards verification at this level of practice.’

The CSP will continue to work with HEE to ensure up-to-date, accessible advice and guidance and resources for completing the roadmap is available to everyone who needs it.
