Employees at around 320 workplaces throughout the UK will be stepping away from their workstations on 19 June and taking part in exercise activities as part of this year’s bumper Workout at Work Day (WOWD).
Registration for the event has now passed, but members are being called on to urge their local politicians to take part in the events happening in the four UK parliaments and assemblies.
The society launched an e-campaign to raise awareness of WOWD among MPs and other parliamentarians.
Members can get involved by filling out and submitting a form on the dedicated WOWD web page: see box above.
Members are also encouraged to let the CSP know what they are planning for WOWD, by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org or through Twitter using the #workoutatwork hashtag.
The society already knows that Chelsea and Westminster Hospital outpatients physiotherapy department is hosting a huge ‘flash mob’ lunchtime exercise class for staff and patients led by former Olympic champion Daley Thompson.
Meanwhile, community staff at Walnuttree Hospital in Sudbury, Suffolk, are laying on a full day of activities, including exercise and relaxation classes, table tennis, health and nutrition information sessions and a full-team evening walk.
More information on the event, including downloadable posters and leaflets for members, can be found on this website: www.csp.org.uk/wowd
