NHS vision becomes reality

The government has launched the NHS operating framework, the third of its major series of policies for the NHS in England. The framework puts into effect the plans set out for the first year of the governmentÂ’s five-year vision for the health service.

Key elements include setting out the financial and health challenges for the service; the 2010 pay award and future approach to pay and job security; properly engaging with clinicians in service redesign; more information on the NHS being the preferred provider; a new deadline of March 2010 for PCTs to agree a future structure for community services; support for newly qualified staff coming into employment; review of training commissions for nurses and AHPs, and implementing the Boorman review on staff health and well-being.

CSP member briefing with more details of the framework coming soon on the website www.csp.org.uk
