Office staff searching for help on keeping fit and stress-free at work, and physios seeking to advise them, need look no further.
The CSP is launching its latest Move for Health campaign sub-brand – Fit for Work – with a new public information leaflet of the same name. The leaflet was produced in collaboration with the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics. It gives physiotherapy advice to sedentary workers on incorporating exercise into a working day, avoiding common aches and pains and managing stress in the office. Already, the leaflet has been extremely popular at the recent Health and Wellbeing at Work event at Birmingham NEC. Now it’s your chance to get your hands on free copies. Members who have already registered their interest in Move for Health on the CSP website will automatically receive 50 free copies of the Fit for Work leaflet. If you have not yet registered, visit www.csp.org.uk/moveforhealth and log in to complete the form at the bottom of the page, not forgetting to tick the box for leaflets. They will arrive with you in April. Further copies can be purchased using the order form on the CSP website. Fit for Work is designed to be attractive and appealing. It folds out into a poster, aimed to encourage workers to put it on display and regularly refer to the advice. The strong visual style draws on in-vogue influences like comic books and the colourful pop art style of artists like Roy Lichtenstein. The design is a symbolic representation of a typical office environment, and a leaflet for non-office workers is planned for later in the year. Following on from last year’s highly successful launch of Move for Health and Move for Health – Kids, the CSP will use the ‘Fit for Work’ theme throughout 2010 to build awareness of physiotherapy’s role in reducing work related ill-health and sickness absence. A CSP opinion poll will look at the number of UK employees experiencing physical and mental health problems at work, occupational health provision, and awareness of employers’ obligations. The results will inform news stories this year, the first of which will hit the media in April. The CSP will also repeat some elements of last year’s campaign, including promotion of the existing Move for Health leaflets, and further Healthy School day events in June.
