A former CSP chair of Council has been elected the first UK chair of the European Region of the World Confederation for Physiotherapy.
Sarah Bazin, who was previously ER-WCP vice chair, will hold the post for four years. The region is regarded as the voice of physiotherapy at a European level, and Sarah Bazin said that during her tenure it would work to support member organisations. She said she expected to be looking at policy coming from the European Parliament, at competence and skills, and movement across boundaries. ‘It’s an enormous honour,’ she said. At a time when wellness and well-being are so important across the whole of Europe, if the European Region can have a role in promoting good health and preventing illness, then I think we will be doing an excellent job.’ Sarah Bazin is head of therapy services at Heart of England Foundation trust, and received an OBE for her services to physiotherapy.
